has lived here and there, but currently resides in Scottdale, Pennsylvania. She is a self-taught artist who enjoys playing mad scientist with acrylics and mixed media.
started painting in early 2019 after a long hiatus from her former favorite style of pen and ink. She turned to abstract, experimentation, and a more relaxed approach to her creations as a way to decompress after long days at a high stress job.
Her works are emotions and energy made visible and tangible. Whenever someone is affected emotionally by something she creates, she is absolutely elated.
Mr.Universe is a local artist that specializes in space and science fiction scenery.
Mr. Universe employs spray paint to create his work and also creates digital art.
Helmick has his work for sale at Gallery 86.

Alexis Smith is from Uniontown PA, Her love of art and graphic design began as a young child. Her fascination and allure of Ancient Egyptian culture started her down the path of art at an early age. In her high school years she started perfecting her line work and drawing skills doing comic book illustrations. Once she progressed her line drawing skills and graduated high school she set out to become a tattoo artist. She worked in highly reputable tattoo shops in the Pittsburgh area. During her progression into tattoo artistry she learned many more valuable skills that helped transform from her skin medium to painting on canvas. Alexis didn't choose a traditional nylon canvas approach, instead opting for abstract and unconventional canvas mediums such as cardboard, wood and walls for murals. Her predominant paint medium is Acrylic paint, gold and silver leaf which she uses to rise above simple 2 dimensional flat images into 3 dimensional visceral visual constructs. Her mixed medium gives an iconography and almost religious context to the ideas being portrayed in her ancient and modern cultural interpretations. Alexis's lifelong fascination with religious theology and occultism across many different cultures of the world have fed into her art designs and aesthetics. She chooses dark and brooding images that connect on many emotional levels to the observer but also themes of light and ascension to higher plains of conciseness in the images of gods, goddesses and demi-gods portrayed in her work.
Art has always been a way for me to express myself in a way words could only scratch the surface of. Art is life; we are all art, the way we express ourselves through clothing or the music we listen to. From the things we say and do we are all walking, talking muses. You never know the impact of your life on another how you may have saved or damaged another muse.
I am engaged in all forms of art: music, sketching, painting, designing, and poetry. I love traveling it allows you to experience new cultures, see different ways of life, to network and make new friends. I have traveled East to West coast from New Jersey all the way to California. This year I am looking to do some out of state traveling and meet up with my international friends. Throughout my travels, I have been told that my art reflects my infectious personality of freedom, self –expression, reflection, and most of all L.O.V.E. “Love is the answer, love is the future!” My art has allowed me to heal while also recognize the silver lining in every “bad situation.”
I am all about supporting people’s dreams and aspirations. I am one of those people if you hang around enough, you will begin to believe in your ability to achieve your dreams and overcome any obstacle. My biggest inspiration is being the person I needed as a child: a supportive person that anyone and everyone can talk to about anything. I will continue to heal myself and develop my character which will allow me to help others to take the steps to heal themselves. When I am not creating art, catch me at ethnic restaurants diversifying my palette. I am a foodie, currently my favorite is middle eastern; specifically Indian.
I will continue to inspire others to live their dreams, giving back to my community of Connellsville, Pennsylvania where I grew up. I am grateful to be able to create pieces of art that make people think, while also sharing my experiences and perspectives.
